Nurse Practitioner Programs in Idaho
According to the Idaho Board of Nursing, in order to become a practicing nurse practitioner in Idaho you must successfully complete a master’s degree program in advanced practice nursing and pass the national certification exam in your specialty. Documentation must be included in a licensure application for Advanced Practice Professional Nurse (APPN) submitted to the Idaho State Board of Nursing. All NPs must be approved to practice by the Idaho Board of Nursing.
According to the Idaho Nursing Workforce Advisory Council, there is a significant shortage of Nurse Practitioners in the state of Idaho primarily due to the lack of master’s degree nursing programs in Idaho. Idaho State University offers the MSN with different nurse practitioner tracks. However, campus based programs can be difficult for students to attend if the program is not geographically convenient or the student continues in their current professional nursing position while working toward his or her MSN.<!- mfunc feat_school ->
