Nurse Practitioners and all other areas of the nursing field are regulated by the Connecticut Department of Public Health. In addition to the afore mentioned requirements, nurse practitioners in Connecticut must have a current Connecticut Registered Nurse License (also a requirement for most Nurse Practitioner programs) and have national certification as a nurse practitioner. National certifying organizations for nurse practitioners include the American Nurses’ Association, The National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecological and Neonatal Nursing Specialties, The National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Learn more about NP specializations and certification at these organization’s websites.
