Nurse Practitioner Programs in Indiana

According to the Indiana Legislative Services Agency and the Indiana State Board of Nursing, APNs including Nurse practitioners must first be a licensed registered nurse in Indiana and graduate from a master’s level program. Nurse practitioners should also be certified through the national certifying body appropriate to their specialty.

Graduates of the nurse practitioner programs found below are eligible to sit for the national certification exams in their specialization. Online nurse practitioner and other APN programs such as nurse midwifery, clinical nurse leader and clinical nurse specialist have made significant headway in their curriculum delivery and assistance with locating clinical site locations to complete preceptorships or practicums. Many of these online nurse practitioner and related APN programs are also accredited by the CCNE or NLNAC. It has become a more convenient way to pursue an advanced practice degree. Online programs offer flexibility for working nurses as well as provide an education option not available, until recently, to rurally based nurses.
