The demand for master's educated nurses in New Jersey is at an all time high. The need for advanced practice nurses that provide a more cost-effective health care solution is a driving factor as well as the need for leaders in nursing management and nursing faculty at nursing schools throughout New Jersey.

 

To become an advanced practice nurse in New Jersey, a master's level education and national certification by a certifying body approved by the board of nursing is required. Nursing salaries in New Jersey are some of the highest in the country and the job outlook, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is excellent through 2016. Master's educated nurses will have the greatest opportunities for jobs and higher salary positions. Our research on current masters educated nurse educator job postings found that nurse educators in New Jersey earn between $70,000 and over $120,000 annually depending on specialty, experience, location and other factors. We found that clinical nurse specialists earn from $72,000 to well over $100,000 annually. Nurse practitioners earn some of the highest salaries of the master's educated nurses, earning from $88,000 to well over $100,000 a year. Nursing faculty earn from around $50,000 to $80,000 a year. Nurses in a management level position with a master's education make very good salaries from the high $70k to well over $110,000 a year. Nurse practitioners, along with the other specialties, will earn different salaries based on their area of specialization. For example, the mental health and psychiatric nurse practitioners seem to earn quite high salaries. Again, these salaries are highly dependent on location, employer, experience, education, training and other factors.
