APRN - Nurse Practitioner Programs in Utah

According to the State of Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing/Utah Board of Nursing, applying for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) requires that you provide documentation of completion of at least a master's degree nursing program. This master's in nursing program must have included coursework in advanced health assessment, diagnosis and treatment, and pharmacotherapeutics. The majority of master's degree in nursing programs with an APRN concentration will meet this requirements, including the nurse practitioner and related advanced practice nursing programs found below.

Master's in nursing degree core curriculum generally includes courses in nursing research and theory, nursing practice, leadership and issues impacting professional nursing and the health care system. Advanced practice concentration often includes focuses on legal and ethical issues facing nurse practitioners and other advanced practice nurses as well as diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, preventative care, health care education, counseling and clinical skill development. Preceptorships are a component/requirement of all advanced practice programs.
