Advanced Practice Nursing Programs in Texas

First and foremost, you must have a current, valid Texas RN license. You must also complete a formal nursing education program that focuses on a specific concentration of advanced practice nursing. Such programs must either be approved by the board of nursing or be accredited by a national accrediting body recognized by the board. In addition, as of January, 2003, it is required that all all advance practice education programs be of at least a master's degree level. Programs must be at least one year in length and must also include a practicum/preceptorship

While you are awaiting results from the certification exam, you may be issued an interim license by the board of nursing to practice as an APRN.
