LPN schools in Utah have varying admission requirements, some more stringent than others. Common requirements to be aware of include possession of a high school diploma or GED, TEAS exam and a College entrance exam (ACT, etc). Once admitted, students are prepared for the NCLEX-PN as well as to practice as an LPN within the laws and regulations governing the practice of LPNs in Utah. Students participate in classroom learning, laboratory time as well as clinicals. Clinicals are an opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills gained in the classroom and the lab to “real world” patient care under the direct supervision of their instructor.

Upon graduation from an approved LPN program graduates must apply for licensure with the Utah Department of Commerce Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. Graduates of LPN Programs in Utah must also complete a State Licensing Board qualifying questionnaire that determines if the applicant has any criminal history, drug or alcohol abuse problems and if there are any mental or physical problems. This is all done prior to registering for the NCLEX-PN. Once the graduate has completed these required steps and passed the NCLEX-PN they will be notified and granted eligibility to use the title LPN in Utah.
