Nursing Master’s Degree Programs in the State of Maine

Students enrolling in a master’s degree program will need to have earned their baccalaureate degree in nursing prior to applying, unless the applicant is applying to an RN or ADN to MSN program. Other requirements such as the GRE, MAT or graduation from an NLN or CCNE baccalaureate program may also be required. It is important to inquire with the school you plan to attend as to what their specific requirements are.

Most registered nurses applying for MSN programs have been working as a registered nurse for more than a year and have a pretty good idea as to the area of specialization they want to focus on. Specializations include nurse practitioner, nurse anesthesia, education, administration, clinical nurse specialist, psychiatric practice, and many others.
