LPN Programs in Connecticut
Practical nursing programs in Connecticut are regulated by the Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing. The Board approves practical nursing programs based on minimum requirements they believe are necessary to become a licensed practical nurse in the state of Connecticut. These approved programs can be found below.
The first step to becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Connecticut is to successfully complete an approved practical nursing program. Upon successful completion of the LPN program, graduates will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN. Graduates of practical nursing programs may practice for up to 90 days in a supervised practical nursing position while awaiting results of their licensure exam (NCLEX-PN).
If you have successfully completed or are considering an LPN program outside the state of Connecticut there is a process required to verify the theory and clinical hours completed. A form is available on the CT Department of Public Health webpage (www.ct.gov/dph/cwp/view.asp?a=3121&q=389408) that will need to be filled out by the Director or Dean of the practical nursing program when applying for licensure with the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
