Nursing Schools in Ohio - OH

Nursing programs in Ohio are turning away hundreds of qualified applicants each year due to the shortage of nursing faculty. This has created a shortage of nursing school graduates including a decline in nurses earning a baccalaureate nursing degree in Ohio. In fact, enrollment of registered nurses into BSN programs in the state of Ohio decreased 62% according to the Nursing Institute of Western Ohio. The decrease in BSN graduates from Ohio nursing schools has had a profound impact on vacancy rates at hospitals throughout Ohio. The majority of hospitals in Ohio are now seeking registered nurses with baccalaureate degrees, because those registered nurses with a BSN are trained in the required standards of care and the more complex cases seen in the hospital setting.

Nursing degree programs in Ohio, including BSN programs have become increasingly more competitive to apply to. As was mentioned above, Ohio nursing schools have been turning away numerous overly qualified applicants because there is not enough room. This site has dedicated itself to researching ways to make more nursing programs and nursing information available to registered nurses and prospective nursing school applicants. One of our solutions is for registered nurses to earn their LPN to BSN, RN to BSN, RN to MSN or MSN online from one of the CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) accredited featured nursing schools on this website. These nursing schools are not waitlisting qualified applicants, they help students coordinate clinical training and the cost per credit is similar to other Ohio nursing programs.

Ohio Nursing Job Outlook and Salary Information

The National Center for Health Workforce Analysis of the Health Resources Services Administration predicts Ohio will reach a shortfall of almost 32,000 registered nurses by the year 2020 (a 29 percent shortage). Registered nursing ranks as the occupation with the highest projected growth rate, with the nation expected to need 2.8 million nurses by the year 2020—800,000 more than the projected supply. Health care related occupations, including nursing, are projected to account for approximately one in seven new jobs in Ohio. What this means that a career in nursing will have job security, good wages and benefits. There hasn't’t been a better time to start or advance your nursing career.
